We are pleased to announce a new partnership with the TMC Fertility & Women’s Specialist Centre in Malaysia who will be welcoming international patients at its headquarters in Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia later this year. Prior to its re-opening we talk to Dr Navdeep Singh Pannu, Medical Director at TMC about his work.
Could you tell us a little bit about the TMC Fertility Centre?
TMC Fertility and Women’s Specialist Centre, Malaysia started out as a clinic in 1994 and has grown to become a fully-fledged Fertility Centre. We are a pioneer in the field of fertility and we are the largest private assisted reproductive medicine group in Malaysia with the widest network of Fertility Centres nationwide with six in total.
Our first IVF baby was born in 1995 and since then, the Centre has successfully helped couples to conceive more than 5000 IVF babies through various assisted reproductive techniques. We have the largest IVF Lab in Malaysia and one of the largest in South East Asia. TMC Fertility was certified by the Reproductive Technology Accreditation Committee (RTAC) in 2015 for having achieved its international benchmark in reproductive medicine.
TMC Fertility has in consecutive years, received awards of excellence under various categories, from the Global Health and Travel Awards (2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019), the IMTJ Medical Travel Awards (2016,2017 and 2018) and the Frost and Sullivan Best Practices Award (2016, 2017).
You are truly passionate about your work, what do you like the most?
What I love about my work is the joy I get from helping couples realise their dream of having a child. The subject of fertility is as much a personal experience as it is professional pursuance for me. Being on both sides of the divide, I personally understand what couples go through in their journey of hope to parenthood.
Even after having delivered hundreds of babies, nothing compares to the elation of handing over a newborn to parents who have been challenged by infertility for years and are finally being blessed with a child. The moment always reminds me of my very own children, two of whom were conceived via IVF. All this inspires and motivates me to keep improving in my vocation so I can help as many couples with their unique infertility challenges to realise the joy of becoming parents.
I also love that this work provides everyone with a chance of becoming a parent now. With the extensive and ever-evolving field of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), it’s a really exciting time for reproductive medicine as infertility is potentially treatable today. We are progressively able to address underlying infertility issues that once rendered a couple childless for life and also accomplish once unimaginable feats in fertility such as fertility preservation and advanced age pregnancy. Over the years, we have had quite a number of women in the advanced age group (the early 50s) successfully conceive and go on to deliver healthy babies.
